Culture enhances quality of life and brings people together – especially in rural areas, where cultural opportunities are often more limited. Through the North Rhine-Westphalia Culture Vouchers, the State of North Rhine-Westphalia supports non-profit associations, initiatives, and organizations in organizing cultural events in rural areas with minimal bureaucracy. Public cultural events and event series are eligible for a fixed grant of €500, provided that at least €500 in eligible expenses have been incurred for the event.

Whether it is a concert, theatre performance, reading, exhibition, or a cultural activity as part of local traditions or voluntary community engagement, the Culture Vouchers provide support where even a small grant can help turn ideas into reality. The programme has been deliberately designed to be straightforward and easy to access. Applications are submitted online via Kultur.Web gonly after the event has taken place, together with the relevant invoices and supporting receipts.

The aim of the programme is to strengthen cultural life in rural areas, highlight the valuable contribution of volunteers, and bring local communities together. In this way, the State of North Rhine-Westphalia helps to promote cultural participation, strengthen communities, and foster social cohesion in a sustainable way.
