As one of the last remaining summer theaters in Germany, Detmold Summer Theater combines old and new in perfect harmony. With spacious facilities, it accommodates up to 350 guests. The audience enjoys performances by theLandestheater Detmold, concerts, recitals, guest appearances by various artists from across the country, and final exams of students from the neighboring University of Music.

The town hall Detmold was built around 1790 as a princely riding hall and was still used for this purpose until the 1930s. After World War II, the building was converted into a venue for events, renovated fort he first time in 1977 and gradually completly restored from 2010 to the end of 2020. The beautiful atmosphere in the middle of the Schlosspark makes the hall a very special event location.

The fürstliches Residenzschloss (princely residence palace) is a jewel in the Weser Renaissance style and is located in the heart of the cultural city of Detmold. Built in the 16th century as the residence of the Counts and Princes of Lippe, the castle offers unique insights into the world of the Lippe dynasty and its history. Whether young or old, all castle fans will get their money's worth here. The tour is the highlight of a visit to the medieval town center, which invites you to store and linger with its stores and cafés.

Hochschule für Musik Detmold (University of Music) is one of the leading institutions for professional music performance in Europe. For almost 60 years, international top musicians have been teaching here in an environment that allows for pedagogicaland artistic work of particularly high intensity.

Johannes Brahms Music School is a municipal institution and provides music education for children, teenagers, and adults, starting from parent-child courses in early childhood through to lessons in all instrumental and vocal disciplines. Ambitious students can participate in music competitions and receive pre-professional training. Ensembles in classical, rock-pop, and jazz genres offer opportunities for collaborative music-making, regular performances, and the development of key non-musical skills.

The historic Kaiserhof Cinema is being revived as an art-house cinema, offering a program of arthouse films, selected blockbusters, and special films for children and young people to create a cinematic experience for everyone. In addition to the film program, it will host cultural events such as readings, concerts, lectures, workshops, and much more.

Klangwerkstatt Detmold was founded in 2007. Located in a historic building in downtown Detmold, it houses the rehearsal and office spaces of Ensemble Horizonte and regularly opens its doors to the public for concerts, lectures, and workshops. Its goal is to make music a tangible experience and to foster dialogue between composers, performing musicians, and listeners. The intimate atmosphere of the performance room, with a maximum of 40 seats, contributes to this aim. The Klangwerkstatt Detmold serves as a hub for all enthusiasts of contemporary music in the region of Ostwestfalen-Lippe.

Hangar 21 is a unique venue operated by Detmolder Stadthallen GmbH, ideal for a wide range of events. It offers flexible spaces in a creative setting and a large outdoor area for corporate events, conferences, seminars, conventions, trade fairs, B2B events, celebrations, flea markets, and more. With its exceptional architecture, Hangar 21 also serves as a multifunctional space for artist residencies, cultural events such as readings, exhibitions, concerts, and theater performances.

Landestheater Detmold, originally a neoclassical building constructed as a court theater in 1825, burned down in 1912. Itwas rebuilt between 1914 and 1919, including an expanded columned portico. It is Germany's largest touring theater, with more than 600 performances annually—half of them at around 60 external venues. Its season runs from September to mid-June.

The Lippische Landesmuseum features impressive exhibitions ranging from prehistoric finds to modern art. With a remarkable collection of artifacts and exhibits, the museum offers insights into the rich history and cultural heritage of Lippe.

Literaturbüro OWL is based in the historic Münsterberg House. Through its projects, support for emerging talent, and guidance and training for authors, it helps bring attention to literature in the OWL region. With its events, the LiteratureOffice OWL aims to spark new ideas. It creates space for engaging with the most subtle of the arts and fostering encounters between artists and audiences.

The LWL Open-Air Museum takes you into the world of past centuries with lovingly restored historic buildings, authentic workshops, and lively demonstrations. Experience craftsmen showcasing their skills, farmers tending to their fields, and the daily life of past eras coming to life. From traditional crafts to historic village festivals, the open-air museum offers a diverse program for all ages.

Since the founding of the Museum of Russian-German Cultural History in 1996, it has been the first and only museum in Germany that deals comprehensively with the culture and history of the Russian Germans. The historic half-timbered gable house at Krumme Straße 20 was built around 1570 as a municipal brewery and has housed the office of the Volkshochschule since 1973. VHS Detmold-Lemgo offers a diverse program here in the fields of culture & design as well as politics & society. This includes lectures, readings, workshops, and study trips that address current societal issues, cultural topics, and forms of creative expression.
